【Product Introduction】

This is the "Vanguard" (model 1899), a high-grade model by Waltham, manufactured around 1907. What stands out is its salesman display case, a skeleton-style case that allows you to appreciate the substantial movement while it remains enclosed within the case. The case itself has a vintage feel and a charming patina. The movement's end stones feature rough-cut diamonds.

The dial is made of high-quality porcelain, with Arabic numeral markers that ensure excellent visibility. The absence of minute markers and the unified black dial create a simple yet elegant appearance. This type of dial specification is highly popular.

Despite its age and use, there are minimal signs of dirt or wear. It's in pristine condition with no hairline cracks or chips. If you're seeking a clean Vanguard dial, this is a recommended choice. While skeleton-style items are rare and sought after, do consider adding this piece to your collection.

Time setting is done through a lever-set method. As shown in the image, pull out the lever located above the 2 o'clock position to adjust the time. When pulling the lever, be careful not to scratch the dial with your fingernail. The manipulation around the crown is smooth, allowing even beginners to easily wind the mainspring and set the time.

The skeleton case, known as a "salesman display case," enables you to enjoy the movement while it's enclosed. It's a great choice for beginners as it prevents dust and water from entering the mechanism, ensuring an enjoyable experience.

The material is believed to be SILVEROID. While skeleton-style items often have pristine cases, this piece comes with the charming patina of long-term use.

When opening the case, it's recommended to use an opener rather than your fingernail. Both the front and back close tightly without any gaps.

A notable feature of this model is the intricate lattice pattern at the center (model 1899). While there are simpler Vanguard models without this pattern, the lattice design enjoys enduring popularity.

As mentioned earlier, the end stones feature rough-cut diamonds, and it's equipped with a 19-jewel movement. There's barely any rust, scratches, or dirt, making it an impressive piece. Given its skeleton case, you'll have ample opportunity to admire the inner workings.

This exceptional piece dates back over a century and underwent an overhaul in October 2022 within the United States. As a reference, its daily accuracy is approximately +20 seconds when laid flat, indicating a good condition. (Accuracy isn't covered by the warranty; we only guarantee its functionality. Due to certain circumstances, since December 2020, we only provide reference values for a flat position. If long-term use is anticipated, regular overhauls are recommended.)

【Size】

Approximately 50mm excluding the crown.
Thickness is around 15mm.
Weight is 84g.

This popular 16-size piece strikes a balance between everyday wear and collector's delight.

Both accuracy and dial quality are impeccable, and it's rare to find such favorable conditions. Skeleton-style pieces are scarce, making it an ideal choice for those who wish to enjoy Vanguard's mechanism within its case. Don't miss the opportunity to add it to your collection.
