[Grade: 993] Hamilton Rare Hunter Case Pocket Watch Antique Manual Winding Mechanical 21 Stone 18 Size 1910
【Product Introduction】
This is a Hamilton Grade: 993 pocket watch manufactured around 1910. I usually refrain from using the term "rare," but I must say that this Grade: 993 deserves it. Compared to Grade 992 and 940, both the production and circulation numbers of this Grade: 993 are extremely limited. (Due to the depreciation of the currency, the price has increased considerably...)
The craftsmanship is exquisite, and the case is a hunter case. Hunter cases of this size are scarce and valuable. The dial is also beautiful, and most importantly, this watch has good accuracy as it's just been serviced domestically.
Even those who enjoy Grade 940 and 992 watches would be delighted to add this to their collection.
The dial is a high-end porcelain double-sunk dial. With Hamilton's unique Arabic numeral markings, it offers excellent visibility.
There are signs of wear and use over the years, but the dial remains clean without major flaws. It's truly satisfying to have such a rare mechanism and a well-preserved case with a beautiful dial. Adjusting the time can be done by pulling the lever at 4 o'clock and turning the crown. The crown's operation is smooth, and it's user-friendly even for beginners.
The case is gold-plated hunter case. The engravings on the front and back are not overly flashy but rather simple and elegant. The engravings are also charming.
There are minimal scratches and dirt due to aging and use, and overall, it's in a beautiful condition. There's a portrait of a girl on the inside surface. Such features are found in antique pieces as well. You can enjoy it as it is, or you can choose to remove it; both options are great for antique items.
The opening and closing of the case are smooth, and it closes neatly on both sides. (Although this applies to all hunter cases, when opening the case, be sure to gently press the crown down while holding the case with your left hand. When closing, gently press the crown down to return the case and then adjust the crown's height.)
And most importantly, the mechanism is fantastic. The entire plate is intricately crafted, and it's best appreciated by looking at the images. The way it shines changes depending on how the light hits it. As the images show, there are few rust spots or scratches, making it a truly eye-catching piece. The engravings are also sharp.
While the overhaul was conducted a little while ago, it was fully serviced in April 2019 within Japan. The daily variation is approximately 15 seconds when placed flat, indicating good performance. (Note that daily variation is not covered by warranty, and a 6-month operational warranty will be provided upon delivery. For various reasons, starting from December 2020, the daily variation will be indicated only for flat placement. If you seek practicality and long-term use, periodic overhauls are recommended.)
The feel of adjusting the crown is good, and setting the time (lever-set method) and winding the mainspring can be done smoothly. Even beginners will find this piece very manageable.
【Size】
Approximately 54mm excluding the crown. Thickness is about 13mm. Weight is 106.7g.
It's an 18-size watch. Hunter case watches of this size are rare. Moreover, you can enjoy the powerful mechanism of the rare Grade: 993.
Hamilton mechanical watches remain popular in modern times. I hope you'll also enjoy this vintage Hamilton mechanical pocket watch. Considering its current condition, I am confident that its value will only increase in 5 or 10 years. I hope you'll enjoy it for a long time to come.
